Old settlement of Altit village consist of the
houses in side the area of Jatak gate, which was the main gate to enter
the Altit.Years before when there were no houses outside Jatak, all the
houses were inside a wall and there was only a single gate to get i and
get out of the old settlement. This was defensive strategy of
the people of Altit. After evening the main gate used to be
closed and no one was allowed to enter the gate or go out side of the gate
by the door keepers. The Old settlement consists of almost 120 houses
which are used even now but they are repaired by the AKCSP.For sustaining
our culture and traditional architecture AKCSP has been encouraging people
to live in their old houses, in addition to this seven projects have been
implemented on this area up till now like underground electrification,
sewerage system, water reservoir, improvement of common spaces, street
pavement, facility o clean water.
